Karim Belarbi is the Scientific Attaché in charge of the Life Sciences domain at the Office for Science and Technology of the Embassy of France. As such, he promotes the establishment and strengthening of bilateral FR-US partnerships (both academic and corporate) and monitors scientific and technological advances in the field of Health and Life Sciences. He is based in Los Angeles, California.

Prior to this position, he contributed to multiple research projects at UC San Francisco and the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm ; Lille Neuroscience and Cognition), aimed at better understanding the links between neuroinflammation, lysosomal and metabolic defects in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Belarbi received his PharmD at University of Reims in 2005 and his PhD at University of Lille in 2009. He was appointed Associate Professor in 2014 and then Full Professor in 2021 at the University of Lille where he taught basic pharmacology and pharmacology applied to therapeutics at the Faculty of Pharmacy.

He is member of the French Society of Pharmacology and Therapeutics committee (SFPT), of the Association des Enseignants en Pharmacologie des Facultés de Pharmacie (AEPFP) and of the Association Française des Enseignants de Physiologie des Facultés de Pharmacie (AFEPFP).
